Single Family Dwelling Unit, Up to 50 sqm Floor Area with Load not Exceeding 3,680 VA.

The dwelling unit has a floor area of 50 square meters with typical small appliance loads for small residential units.

1. TOTAL LOAD

(A) General Lighting and Convenience Receptacle Load: [See Table 2.20.2.3]
50 m2 x 24 volt-amperes per m21200 volt-amperes
(B) Typical Appliance Load:
One electric flat iron1200 volt-amperes
One television set80 volt-amperes
One electric fan75 volt-amperes
One radio20 volt-amperes
Total Load2575 volt-amperes

Total Computed Current: 2 575 VA / 230 V = 11 Amperes

2. CIRCUIT REQUIREMENTS

Use one 20-ampere 2-wire circuit. [See Section 2.10.2.5(a) and 2.10.1.11(d)].

3. SERVICE ENTRANCE CONDUCTORS

Use two 3.5 mm2 (2.0 mm dia) TW Copper Wire (minimum). [See Section 2.30.2.3(b) Exception]

4. SERVICE EQUIPMENT

Use one 30-ampere, 1PST, 250V safety switch with one 20-A Fuse; or, use one 20 A-Trip, 1-pole, 240V enclosed molded case circuit breaker. [See Section 2.40.2.3]

Note: For loads exceeding 3680 VA see Section 2.10.1.11(a) to (c) and succeeding examples.
