Sag-Tension Spreadsheet Free Calculator (Even Elevation)

Posted on August 1, 2018

As promised, you can download for free my sag-tension spreadsheet calculator. Take note that because of the complexity of the creep in a conductor, it is not a factor in these calculations. Also, this calculator is only for even supports. You can use this spreadsheet to verify the results in my sample computation in the previous post.

The user should understand first the fundamental concepts of sag-tension so that he can appreciate the equations and the result.

HERE ARE FEATURES OF THE CALCULATOR:

  1. The user can add the conductor specifications when it is not available in the database.
  2. The variable names are shown and used in the formula. This advanced excel feature, allows the user to easily pinpoint the possible errors in the formula. Formulas are protected so that accidental edit would not lead to erroneous results.
  3. On one part, the user will solve the “final conductor tension” using the “goal seek” feature of excel. The step by step guide is shown in one of the worksheets.
  4. There are helpful diagrams and formulas to guide the user.

Go ahead and try it out!

Comment below what are the possible improvements you want to include in the future.

Note: The purchase of downloadable files is still in beta mode. In the meantime, the download link will be sent manually in email.
